Engineering Lesson Plan Toolkit

A QUICK START GUIDE FOR IEEE VOLUNTEERS AND MEMBERS

Engineering Lesson Plan Toolkit

Teach Engineering Through Simple & Engaging Activities

TryEngineering.org makes it easy to teach engineering concepts by providing access to more than 130 complete, low-cost, easy-to–implement lesson plans that give you everything you need to help students apply a variety of engineering principles in the classroom.

Each lesson plan is designed to be a complete roadmap that’s easy to follow, no matter your familiarity with the topic, and aligns with educational standards.

The Engineering Design Process (EDP) is a series of steps that engineers use to guide the development of products and processes to improve our lives.

As an IEEE volunteer, you can use the Engineering Lesson Plan Toolkit to help you conduct teacher and student workshops around the TryEngineering lesson plans. Please see our Lesson Plan Toolkit Library below.

This lesson demonstrates the power of mass production. Students work in teams to design, construct, test, and redesign an assembly line to manufacture a product as quickly and efficiently as...
Develop a robot arm using common materials. Students will explore design, construction, teamwork, and materials selection and use.
The lesson focuses on unique challenges in transportation engineering, such as devising a method for skiers or hikers to get to the top of a mountain. Students work in teams...
Lesson focuses on issues civil engineers face, including critical load and how to reinforce the design of a structure to hold more weight.
Students will learn about electricity and circuits by using conductive and insulating dough to build creative electric creations.
Students work in teams to design and build their own bridge out of up to 200 popsicle sticks and glue.
