The demand for STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education resources for pre-university is expected to increase within the next few years as STEM occupations are expected to grow. Zippia says the technology industry is growing exponentially.  For example, “computer’s speed and power have generally been doubling every 1½-2 years since the 1960s and 70s,” noted Zippia’s Abby McCain, who added that the artificial intelligence industry alone is currently growing by 16-18% a year and is anticipated to be valued at $500 billion in 2024.

According to Edvocate, having a solid foundation in STEM can provide students with a wide range of career opportunities. STEM education can help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, which are essential for success in almost any field. STEM resources can make learning these subjects more engaging and enjoyable for students, which can help them stay motivated and interested in their studies. Introducing pre-university students to STEM activities and webinars will allow them to cultivate creativity, building adaptability, encouraging teamwork and problem solving.

IEEE offers many ways to support the educational needs of learners throughout their lives.

For pre-university students, the opportunity to explore STEM enables them to prepare for the future. Through IEEE’s REACH, educational offerings are realized globally. Using the skills learned from TryEngineering lesson plans, student activities, and career resources, students will be able to apply them to various scenarios.

IEEE Education Week, 2 to 8 April 2023, aims to highlight many IEEE resources available to students, educators, and technical professionals. You will find events, special offers, and other resources, from the many Organizational Units, Societies, Councils, and Technical Communities, listed on the IEEE Education Week website. This weeklong celebration is a great way to explore education programs and offerings from IEEE.
