The IEEE Pre-University STEM Grant program is helping leaders and advocates of STEM education to take learning simply beyond the academics offered in the classroom. The Robotic Science Tanks for middle level education students RST-BAQ program provided an opportunity for pre-university students in Barranquilla, Columbia to have hands-on experience with work in robotics.

The workshop program entitled Robotic Science Tanks for High School Students – RST-BAQ Workshop was implemented in the city of Barranquilla. The academic and technical content of the RST-BAQ Workshop was designed according to the needs of the student. Measurement: Document with the program design in the evidence link.

In this program, 12 students between the ages of 14 and 18 were trained in robotics with access to hands on robotics kits. Two local teachers from higher learning institutions also participated, and five volunteers assisted with the program. At the end of the program, each student delivered a final project that addressed a specific need that STEM professionals aim to fulfill. The program resulted in a total of 20 robotics kits distributed, the involvement of 2 leading professors, and 12 final projects submitted.

Robotic Science Tanks for Middle Level Education Students RST-BAQ was funded by the IEEE Pre-University STEM Portal Grant Program in 2021.
