The TeachEngineering Digital Library is an educational resource featuring standards-aligned, design-rich curricula. Their goal is to help educators put the ‘E’ in STEM – by making applied science, technology, and math come alive through engineering design and design thinking.
Communications Engineers continue to be in demand as communications technology continually evolves. The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) promotes technological innovation and fosters creation and sharing of information among the global technical community. They are dedicated to STEM education opportunities at the pre-university level with the goal of inspiring students to pursue careers in communications engineering.
Check out the following free lesson plans from Teach Engineering that the IEEE Communications Society recommends for teachers to help inspire their students in telecommunications.
Radio Communications
- Keep In Touch – students observe and contemplate how satellites receive and transmit signals for communication
- What is Bluetooth? – students use Morse Code and consider the usefulness of wireless electrical connections for connecting electrical devices
Electronic Communications
- Sound Extenders – students conceptualize sound waves through everyday materials
Network Routing
- Sets-Nodes-Edges: Representing Complex Networks with Graph Theory – students use graphs to represent complex networks
