School is out! If you love science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), you don’t have to wait for classes to start back up in the fall. YouTube has no shortage of fun STEM channels to save for a rainy day this summer. Check out some of these popular channels to learn all about science, math, and technology:
- Kurzgesagt: This animated STEM YouTube channel by hilipp Dettmer contains short videos that explain mind-blowing science using a narrative that is both beautiful and visual.
- Veritasium: This channel gets its name from a combination of the word Veritas, which means ‘truth’ in Latin, and -ium, a suffix found in many elements. Its creator, Derek Muller, explains some pretty unexplainable stuff about science.
- VSauce: This YouTube channel, which follows a theme called ‘Mind Field’ with the topics arranged into a series of seasons, explains of science, philosophy, culture, and illusion
- ASAPScience: “Making science make sense” is the motto of this YouTube channel, which uses whiteboard sketches to simply complex science.
- Minute Physics: This YouTube channel answers your physics questions in under two minutes.
- Bill Nye the Science Guy: This channel is hosted by world-famous science guy Bill Nye, a former Boeing engineer who went on to become the star of an Emmy-award winning PBS science show
- Physics Girl: This physical science-based YouTube channel is from Dianna Cowern, a Hawaiian science communicator.
- SciShow: One of YouTube’s most popular channels, SciShow lets kids participate in live debate, ask questions, or just watch.
- TEDEd: An extension of TED, this YouTube series uses visual storytelling to express ideas from some of the world’s best educators and animators.
- The Backyard Scientist: This science YouTube channel is perfect for kids who love the outdoors.
- Periodic Videos: This YouTube channel is strictly for chemistry lovers, with videos for every element in the periodic table.
- Tibees: The YouTube channel from Toby Hendy, who is from Australia, explains everything you ever wanted to know about math and physics.
- MathTV: This YouTube channel for math lovers is hosted by Pat McKeague, the owner of a math book company.
- It’s Ok to Be Smart: Funny and engaging, this channel features science videos, experiments and projects for kids.
- Math Antics: Another YouTube channel for math fanatics, but features content geared towards older students.
- Sick Science: Hosted by celebrity educator Steve Spangler, this YouTube series has some fantastic at home science experiments kids won’t want to miss.
- The Coding Train: This channel focuses on helping kids learn coding through games, starting with the basics.
