Engineers Week with DiscoverE!

It’s time once again to celebrate Engineers Week! Let’s start off with a message about Engineer’s Week from the astronaut crew of Expedition 68 on behalf of NASA and the International Space Station!

Driven by DiscoverE (Discover Engineering), Engineer’s Week is an event looking to make a year-round impact in engineering. DiscoverE is a coalition that works to provide every student with a shared STEM experience and the resources, programs, and connections to improve the understanding of engineering through a united voice and a global distribution network.

DiscoverE and Engineers Week aim to celebrate how engineers make a difference in our world, call attention to the need for engineers, technicians, and technologists in the world, and engage students in engineering. This year, Engineers Week will be celebrated February 19-25, 2023. This year’s theme, Creating the Future, recognizes how engineers play a vital role in innovating solutions to global challenges that impact future generations. By working together to develop new technologies, products and opportunities, engineers create new possibilities that make the world a better place. This week will include the finals of the DiscoverE Future Cities competition on February 21st, and Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day on February 23rd.

DiscoverE provides lots of great ideas for how to celebrate this week and engage kids with the world of engineering. A great place to start is by watching their Countdown to Engineers Week webinar. You can also check out and download their 2023 Volunteer Planning Guide. Additionally, there are also free downloads available to help promote and celebrate the week such as certificates of participation for Engineers Week and Girl’s Day.

DiscoverE also provides many free resources you can use to inspire future innovators, such as hands-on engineering activities and lesson plans such as the Windy City Tower Challenge and the Restore a Habitat Challenge. You can also find information about engineering education and pathways to technical careers
