Engineering Your Left Over Gift Wrap

Unwrapping your holiday gifts can be a ton of fun but know what’s not? The mess! It’s the worst, having to throw away a ton of used wrapping paper (but if you do, remember to recycle), which is why this blog is full of fun and sustainable ways to reuse your wrapping paper.

There are so many ways to make use of leftover wrapping paper instead of throwing it away! Continue reading to find out what you can make!

Origami

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be an engineer? This excellent origami box craft will give you a sneak peek at what it’s like to build something from scratch. The best part? All you need is wrapping paper and tape, preferably washi (it’s easier to remove) and from there, use your creativity!

This box is sure to make use of all your extra wrapping paper, and even better, you can use reuse your one-of-a-kind box for regifting purposes!

Marble Run

What better way to use an empty wrapping paper roll than for a marble run? This activity is sure to turn your wheels as the goal is to get your marble (or jingle ball) from the top of the course to the bottom. Even better? You can decorate the tube with leftover paper to make it your own.

This activity might need some help from adults, as it requires taping the roll to a wall, or higher up surface. If unavailable, be creative and think like an engineer! What else can you do to make the marble successfully pass through the course?

What do you want to make?

Use your imagination and come up with new ways to reuse holiday wrapping paper by testing them out. Or, gather your family and friends and come up with a game to play using all of the leftovers.

The possibilities are endless hours of fun and are sure to get you thinking like an engineer! Remember to be creative and enjoy the holidays!
