Ways to Get Involved
Join the TryEngineering STEM Community
The IEEE Pre-University STEM Community (PreU STEM) unites educators, volunteers, and STEM enthusiasts who are passionate about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) at the pre-university level. Our global community provides you with access to a wealth of resources, networks, and expertise that will help you engage in STEM education.
Do you want to introduce school-aged children to engineering?
Explore TryEngineering’s Lesson Plan database of over 130 lessons to engage school-aged children in hands-on engineering design challenges that help you teach engineering concepts such as lasers, LED lights, flight, smart buildings, and more.
Do you want school-aged children to meet engineers from around the world?
Engage in Virtual Classroom Visits where teachers set up a virtual visit with an engineer from any where in the world. We need a diverse STEM workforce and opportunities for school-aged children to meet STEM professionals who are themselves from diverse backgrounds is a critical first step.
Do you need funding to get your STEM Outreach started?
Apply for an IEEE STEM Grant to help you turn your idea into reality. Our STEM Grant Program is designed to support your STEM outreach work in your community, so that you may Share, Give Back and Inspire.
Do you want to dive deeper into STEM Outreach?
Enroll in our Volunteer Training Courses which include: Getting Started, STEM Pedagogy, Next Level, and Digital Tools. These courses are delivered to you through the IEEE Learning Network Volunteer Training site.
Do you want to explore new ways to spark school-aged children’s interest in STEM?
Attend the IEEE STEM Summit hosted in October each year. The Summit is a free, three-day virtual event for volunteers, educators, STEM enthusiasts, and parents who can share ideas, and experiences, and develop an efficient pre-university STEM education.
Do you want recognition for your STEM outreach work?
Become an IEEE STEM Champion by applying to become part of this elite group. The program was developed to recognize IEEE volunteers for their contributions to pre-university STEM education and to build a community of pre-university IEEE STEM outreach volunteers.
