What is the Thomas Edison Pitch Contest?
According to its website, The Thomas Edison Pitch Contest was created in 2010 by the Edison Innovation Foundation as a competition to showcase and encourage invention, innovation and entrepreneurship among students before they get to college. Every year, students submit their great ideas to win prizes and gain the hands-on experience exclusive to this contest!
Thomas Edison once said “There’s a better way to do it – find it!” This challenge is extended to students from grades 4-12! This fun STEM contest will allow students to create their own inventions to solve problems that they see in the world today.
- Learn about STEM, history & entrepreneurship all in one contest
- Receive a FREE Maker-Kit full of inventing supplies & a stipend for your teacher/mentor
- Motivate & inspire students to learn science, engineering, business, marketing & more!
- Pitch your invention to a panel of judges who are real-life scientists & entrepreneurs
- Work together as a team to win the Grand Prize – A 3D PRINTER FOR YOUR SCHOOL
What’s New to the Contest for 2024?
The Edison Innovation Foundation recently announced that the registration for the 2024 contest will run from 10 October through 10 November, 2023. Please note that this will be a change from previous years, where registration has typically opened in January. This will allow for more time for students to complete their projects, which will still be due in April.
There will now also be a two part video assignment that will allow contestants to be more organized and strategic in their video presentations.
Additionally, Google classroom will now be used to register teams, submit assignments, and receive feedback.
