We created 3D-printed pumpkins in which we could place a PCB with a switch, a 3V battery, and an LED so that students could have a Halloween decoration in their homes. We had different colors of the 3D-printed pumpkins and different styles that were found in an open-source library on the internet. The PCB was designed by myself and assembled by several university students by hand.
We also prepared a PowerPoint presentation with several animations to help children understand what electricity is!

How do you use it?
We used the presentation to teach children how electricity works by making several connections with the devices around them. Afterwards, we gave them a 3D-printed pumpkin, a battery, a PCB, and a hat so they could assemble the pumpkin themselves.
Why do you like it?
Explaining a complex topic to elementary school kids and keeping them interested isn’t easy, but that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding.
