Target Applicant: Pre-University
The University of Deleware offers three, week-long engineering summer camps—one for rising 3rd-5th graders, one for rising 6th-8th graders, and one for rising 9th and 10th graders. Campers explore core engineering concepts such as friction, characterization, polymerization, bonding, energy, and the physics of waves. Each branch of engineering at the College is represented through connections to the core material, and campers learn from and engage in hands-on activities with UD engineering graduate students, post-docs, and faculty. The program is designed to increase the effective participation of African American, Hispanic/Latino, and Native American youth in engineering and other science professions as well as provide accelerated academic enrichment instruction in Mathematics, Science, English and Engineering related material.
