Target Applicant: Pre-University


The cooperation and support of freshman and sophomore high school personnel has been shown to be a critical factor in the successful selection of participants for this program. The workshop content is similar to that of the 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Workshops, however, program content emphasis is placed upon motivating participants to think about career choices as they relate to their own values, abilities and goals; hands-on projects are more advanced; visitation to a variety engineering laboratories throughout the engineering disciplines are made available; and, more advanced workshops on study skill and test-taking techniques are offered. Emphasis is placed on helping participants understand the critical importance of the appropriate selection as well as strong performance in courses they take during the balance of their high school career.
