Earlier this fall, India’s leading institute for higher education, IIT Delhi, launched ‘Sci-Tech Spins,’ an academic outreach initiative for high school students. Under the program, IIT Delhi professors who are engaged in groundbreaking STEM research provide virtual lectures and laboratory demonstrations to high school students on a weekend every month.

“Sci-Tech Spin lectures will take students on short, but riveting spins into the fascinating world that surrounds us, and that still holds innumerable mysteries for us to resolve,” IIT Dehli states on its website. “They will be organized in informal, dialogical settings, with the hope that students will be excited enough to pursue them in the future.”

How To Participate:

  • Schools in India can nominate students currently enrolled in Grades 9 and above to participate in Sci-Tech Spins. Each school may nominate as many as four students.
  • All registered students attending the lectures will receive e-certificates of participation at the end of each weekend session, and will be invited to IIT Delhi’s annual event Open House.
  • Lecture and the laboratory demonstration sessions will be live-streamed on YouTube for any student in the country to watch.

Schools that would like to nominate students to attend future lectures should contact the Associate Dean, Academic Outreach & New Initiatives, IIT Delhi (email- adoni@iitd.ac.in, acadoutreach@iitd.ac.in).
