Roboteam STEM Experience is a pre-university targeted initiative carried out by STEM professional volunteers. Its purpose is to encourage scientific and technological vocation in children and adolescents through free workshops where they experiment and learn about STEM disciplines, electricity, electronics, energy, programming, and robotics. The Roboteam STEM Experience arose in response to the global situation traversed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the restriction of face-to-face events. After a successful first year in 2020, the event continued into a second round over the winter months in the following year.

In 2021, the Roboteam STEM Experience 2 targeted students between 15 and 18 years old. The program recruited a total of 45 students and 59 teachers from all over Argentina. The program also included participation of 20 volunteers and over 20 local partner organizations and companies. The program was structured as 15 meetings that included various subjects and areas of STEM including technical workshops, soft skills workshops, and project development and integration workshops. Each of the participants received an Arduino kit with all of the necessary elements for a prototype.

During the various workshops of this program, students were encouraged to imagine solutions to social problems of their communities. They were given the opportunity to enhance their skills and acquire technological and engineering tools. They participated in innovative projects where they worked in diverse teams and were accompanied by technology specialists, mentors, and instructors who helped students prepare to present their final projects. Socio-economic integration and gender diversity are promoted in an effort to reduce the digital divide.

Roboteam STEM Experience 2 was funded by the IEEE Pre-University STEM Portal Grant Program in 2021. The third edition was once selected as a recipient of the same grant program in 2022.
