Global Impact with the IEEE PreU STEM Grants
IEEE Pre-University STEM Portal Grant Program will be announcing its 2023 winners during IEEE EdWeek at a live event 3 April at 9:30 AM ET. A panel of STEM Grant awardees from various IEEE operating units (i.e, sections, technical societies, student chapters) will be sharing their inspiring stories of impact at the local level. Here are a few highlights of our STEM Grant Recipients:
- Promoting Out of School STEM Learning at Home (Uganda Section, R8) Education is not just for educators and teachers. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted that changes in technology have boosted access to information that parents and guardians can now leverage when the child is not physically in the classroom. Promoting Out-of-School STEM Learning at Home program served as a means to engage pre-university students and their parents in Uganda in STEM education during the pandemic. - Enhancing the participation of girls of Bule Hora in STEM courses of Bule Hora University (Bule Hora Student chapter, R8) The IEEE student branch of Bule Hora University was inspired to provide maximum impact and motivation to the female pre-university students of the Bule Hora area in STEM education. Enhancing the Participation of Girls of Bule Hora in STEM was created to help bring awareness and opportunities for STEM education to pre-university females in the city of Bule Hora, Ethiopia. - STEM-Ed (IEEE PES Kerala Chapter Technical Society) As part of the IEEE Pre-University STEM Grant Program, the IEEE PES Kerala Chapter has organized STEM-Ed (STEM Education). The main goal of the program is to provide a platform for individual training and mentoring students of eighth, ninth and tenth grades in STEM disciplines. The grant funding is for the implementation of an IEEE pre-university STEM outreach programs, events and resources at the local level. The STEM Grant program spurs pre-university STEM outreach and innovation. Together we are empowering the next generation of technology innovators.
