The 2022 IEEE Pre-University STEM Portal Grant recipients have successfully completed their programs. These programs helped to increase the opportunity for STEM education for pre-university students beyond just classroom and textbook learning.   • Bina Semula RBT @ Minggu Sains Negara 2022 (Rebuild RBT @ National Science Week 2022) STEM Grant Program Spotlight (coming soon)
    Malaysia Section, R10; Amount Awarded $2000

    Bina Semula RBT @ Minggu Sains Negara 2022 (Rebuild RBT @ National Science Week 2022) was a program that rebuilt Malaysian school laboratories that were damaged due to flooding by training both students and educators in various areas of STEM including microcontrollers and Internet of Things.

    New Jersey Coast Section, R1; Amount Awarded $993

    Biotech, Health and Medical Device Literacy Summer STEM Engineering Experience was a program in New Jersey where students in grades 7-12 engaged in hands-on activities and laboratory experiments that increased technical literacy and sparked interest in biotechnology and medicine.

    Idea Pitching Competition “ Pinch your Spark” was a program in India where students ages 14-18 could present innovative STEM ideas to a panel with the hope of being selected to receive a bootcamp in microcontrollers and programming to help support their initiatives.

    IEEE SLInspire 2022 was a project in Sri Lanka for students ages 11-18 launched with the aim of taking a sustainable approach in order to resolve local challenges faced by the Sri Lankan STEM student community and others.

    IEEE Solar Energy Camp CST to Promote Use of Solar Energy in Bhutan was a program that aims to introduce renewable energy and solar energy technologies through a three-phase workshop including hands-on training of solar photovoltaic and thermal systems.

    Sri Lanka Section, R10; Amount Awarded $1969

    IEEE STEMόνειρα was a program in India that was designed to empower grades nine and ten students from rural areas by educating them in IT and providing hands-on training in computers in an effort to raise the percentage of rural students with computer literacy.

    IEEE Women in Engineering Project-Based Learning School Camp was a one-week program in India for students ages 11-18, providing hands-on sessions that exposed students to real-world applications of current technological trends and gave them a first brush to different STEM Fields.

    The Ottawa Robotics Competition School Outreach Program was a contest that encouraged young participants to employ their imagination to construct robots and compete in a number of categories including a line-following race, sumo, and drawing.

    Practical Activities That Foster STEM Curiosity Among High School Students in Far North Queensland was a STEM-engagement workshop where students ages 11-18 were exposed to  the application of physical and mathematical knowledge which to be implemented in local exposition events like STEM and career fairs.

    Roboteam STEM Experience 3rd Edition was a WIE initiative with the purpose of encouraging scientific-technological vocations in children and adolescents in STEM disciplines such as electricity, electronics, energy, programming and robotics.

    Malaysia Section, R10; Amount Awarded $950

    School Lab Outreach Program introduced students in Malaysia ages 14-18 to the fun-filled, inquisitive world of sensors and their use in applications with positive impact to daily life.

    Telecom Engineer at a Glance was a workshop program for high school students in Malaysia that aimed to increase STEM literacy in telecommunications and increase awareness of options in university STEM education and career paths.

    Madhya Pradesh Section, R10; Amount Awarded $914

    Tor to Tech was a program in the Madhya Pradesh area that served as a platform for students ages 14-18 to experience how a high-end computer works by understanding processes with microcontrollers and Arduino.

    UnBaby was a program in Brazil for students ages 14-18 aimed at highlighting career opportunities in STEM fields such as engineering fields such as circuit building, programming, and car design.

    Underwater Robotics Workshop is a program in Malaysia that seeks to attract and motivate students ages 11-18 to robotics technology through the construction and the operation of the underwater vehicle.

    University to School Mentoring on STEM was a six-day program in Bhutan that can mentor both students and teachers in various applications of STEM learning including automation, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, robotics, drones, and programming.
