What is Giving Tuesday?

In 2022, Giving Tuesday will be celebrated on the 29th of November. According to its website, this celebrated day is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. It was created in 2012 as a simple idea; a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Since its inception, Giving Tuesday has grown to encompass more than 260 community campaigns in the US, and over 80 countries worldwide now participate. 

Giving Tuesday with IEEE and IEEE Foundation

IEEE and IEEE Foundation programs are where philanthropy and technology intersect. To encourage philanthropy among its members and friends, IEEE is participating in Giving Tuesday. The campaign runs from the 16th to 29th of November. 

Starting 16 November– Your Donation Could Be Doubled At No Extra Cost to You! The first (US) $28,000 of donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar (total of up to US $56,000) across all IEEE programs– this means that time is of the essence to increase the impact of your donation. By taking advantage of this matching campaign today, your gift could be doubled!

Support TryEngineering Through the IEEE Foundation

TryEngineering Inspires the Engineers of Tomorrow! Consider making a donation to TryEngineering and support STEM outreach for pre-university students!  

IEEE TryEngineering aims to empower educators to foster the next generation of engineers and technology innovators. The site provides educators, students, and volunteers with resources to help engage and inspire pre-university students.  

Through TryEngineering.org, IEEE is demonstrating its commitment to raising interest and awareness in engineering, computing, and technology. IEEE strives to help students discover the engineer within them by empowering educators and volunteers to spark student excitement for these STEM professions.  

TryEngineering.org has over 2 million page views and 500,000 users per year. In 2021, IEEE, through our volunteers across the globe, held 340 STEM outreach events in 35 countries. These events impacted over 18,629 students, 1967 teachers, and 2889 parents.

By donating to TryEngineering, you will help provide new resources (lesson plans, articles, games, etc.) to the website, as well as help expand our reach through offering IEEE STEM grants.
