International Day of the African Child (IDAC) is celebrated on June 16th to commemorate South African children who lost their lives in 1976 in their fight for their rights in the then apartheid in South Africa. The event also celebrates African children and prompts reflection and action on the challenges they face.

In this regard, Mama Ngina University College (MNUC) is planning a celebration of the Day of the African Child on Friday, 14th June 2024, as part of MNUC School Mentorship Programme implemented in collaboration with Ministry of Education, Gatundu South Subcounty and aims at supporting schools to establish and sustain structured mentorship in school for academic excellence and holistic wellness.

The theme for IDAC 2024 is “Education for all African Children: The Time is Now” which aims to create awareness on the need to provide quality education to all children in Africa and beyond.

In this regard, MNUC has mobilized local primary and secondary schools to attend the event that will take place on Friday 14th June, 2024 at Mutomo Primary School grounds starting from 9:00 am.

IEEE Kenyatta University student branch has been invited to mentor the students who will attend the event. As such, interested IEEE volunteers are requested to fill this form for logistics planning on or before Wednesday 12th June 2024, 8.00am.

You will be required to attend the full-day event, with the bus leaving at 8.00am on Friday from Kenyatta University main gate.

Your transportation to and from the venue, alongside your lunch, will be catered for.
