Halloween might be over, but that does not mean the celebrations are over! Do you have a little too much Halloween candy? Instead of eating it all and getting a tummy ache, why don’t we experiment with it?! Or, we could even work on our STEM skills! Down below are a few fun ideas to do with your leftovers!

A Race to Dissolve

Let’s see which candy dissolves the fastest and in what substance! Using three different types of candy and three different liquids, you can see which candy disappears the fastest. This experiment is great for all ages and you can do it anywhere!

This experiment used oil, water, and vinegar as their liquids, but you can use anything! Let us know what candy dissolves the fastest and what you used for the experiment!

Growing Gummy Bears

Have you ever seen a big gummy bear? Well, in this experiment you can grow one yourself and all you need is water, salt, and gummy bears! This experiment will be comparing the size of the gummy bears in the saltwater vs the ones in regular water. Which do you think will grow more?

This experiment is great to conduct anywhere! Even better, you can make it a competition and see whose hypothesis is correct. Be sure to check out this step by step guide on how to go about performing this experiment!

Weigh It Out

How much do you think your Halloween candy weighs? Write down that number and let’s weigh it out! In this experiment you will need a weighing scale and of course your Halloween candy. From here, the options are endless for what to do next.

Some ideas are to compare the weight to another object; this experiment used an apple for comparison. Isn’t that clever? See? Halloween can also be a time to sharpen those math skills.
