Since 1998, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation has provided over $3.0 million dollars in financial aid through its various scholarship programs. The purpose of the program is to encourage young people, especially women, to pursue a career in engineering, science, or technology. Pathmakers are women presently studying or working in these careers. They provide mentorship and volunteer their time to go into classrooms to inform young students about future opportunities and to try and eliminate stereotypes of gender roles.
