Location:
College Station, United States
Target Applicant:
Pre-University
Category:
Camp

The Women Explore Engineering (WEE) summer camp is a special 4 day summer program designed to give female high school students with an interest in science, mathematics and engineering an opportunity to explore engineering as a career. The camp will focus on issues important to women and other groups that are under-represented in the field of engineering (African Americans, Hispanic, Native Americans). Sessions will include panel and group discussions with women engineering faculty and students that will focus on what it's really like in the workplace and in college for female engineers. Tips on how to balance an engineering career and a family, and other career options for women in engineering will also be discussed. During the camp, students live on campus in modern residence halls, participate in group and panel discussions, see engineering activities in progress in laboratories and do a bit of engineering themselves by completing a design project. Camp counselors are with camp participants through the day and during the evenings.
