The Multiethnic Introduction To Engineering (MITE) program was initiated on the Purdue, West Lafayette campus as the Minority Introduction To Engineering Program in the summer of 1975. Participants in the MITE program are high school juniors who get exposure to life as an engineering student at Purdue. Students focus on boosting their SAT math and verbal scores. Professional development workshops prepare students for college success and social activities help students connect with future engineers from all over the country. Engineering projects such as rocket launching, drone creation, and underwater vehicle construction introduce students to the different engineering disciplines.
